i was never a BIG FAN of asian drama. by asian drama i mean those from korea or taiwan that invaded 'pinas since the most celebrated arrival of dao-ming-si, his F3, shan-chai and the ever famous "oh baby, baby, baby." that's when this asian craze started as claimed by kapamilya's line "true home of asianovelas." whether it's ABS or GMA, i couldn't care less... its ABS! c'mon! ;p since meteor garden, more and more korea-made drama spawned on philippine television like mushrooms. they even replaced the traditional heavy filipino drama series (pangako sa'yo and the like) in primetime. philippine audience embraced this new breed of entertainment. no doubt about it. exclude me from that audience, though.
well yah, i was kinda hooked on meteor garden then. i remember running to my room with my cousins at 4' o clock or so to catch dao! but unlike most of my friends who go gaga over korean dvds, do endless marathons of korean series, download who-knows-what-that-means soundtracks, it's just not my thing. i enjoyed some but very few of them (from ABS mostly). some of the series i loved:
yah. you get the point. i'm not a fan. so what?
well, not until 3 days ago (monday). when my super beloved sisses invaded my place for a movie marathon. hell yah, up until sembreak, they keep on buggging me! and i soo love them for that. she, the self-proclaimed korean-drama-avid-fan, anime-enthusiast, manga-reader, japanese-cartoon-lover altogether brought dvds. they wanted to see 8 below, that paul walker and the 8 sled dogs' expedition to antarctica movie i've already seen but don't remember the story. but i insisted to watch another one.
"ayoko ng singkit" - my favorite line whenever we're up to a movie marathon. i'm not a fan nga right? and i don't like the burden of reading the subtitle on the screen while the action's going on. c'mon. but 2 days ago (b4 that monday), i stumbled upon a friend's (gerald) FS blog. the latest post (well, there were only two entries, lol) was about windstruck. i've heard a lot of good reviews (from friends) about this movie but i never really cared to see it. so binasa ko. man, it was like the whole script of the movie plagiarized on friendster! (peace, ge :D) hehe. ang haba naman kasi. there were ten parts, your 9 most favorite scenes i guess huh? and the other, wala, ka-adikan lang. haha. and there, after reading, it actually caught my interest. the sorry-sorry lines gave me the chills! yeah. so much for the blog, i insisted to watch windstruck instead. (oo na ge, iba na nga influence mo. o ayan na, major exposure na yan ha, adik. haha.)
and there...
my sweetest nightmare begins...
windstrucked. i was. i don't have to tell the story here, coz yah, i know. i'ts sooo yesterday and the whole world probably knows about it (i'm such a late bloomer fan, lol). but boy i tell you, i cried a river! well that's nothing compared to "abi's ocean of tears." c'mon, wala pa nga ung eksena umiiyak na ang gaga! i won't compete kapatid. oscar's best actress ka. ;)
but le'mme just share a few of my favorite scenes if you don't mind :)
define laughing out loud ako during the first part. shocks, i thought i was gonna die kakatawa! (ryt sis?) haha. i especially enjoyed the scene where myungwoo (the male lead) pretended to be a criminal arrested for countless murders, arsons and rapes to shoo away that annoying council member whatever that is and the rest of his gang. that was real funny like hell!
and yah. i've had my fair share of crybaby moments. lahat ng nakakaiyak, kahit hindi na nakakaiyak, iniyakan ko, or namin for that matter, up until the movie was over. haha. however, there were aspects of the movie that would raise eyebrows and leave you asking, "where the hell did that come from?!" like that first time when myungwoo nearly died. the hell with the rocks, bigla na lang sumulpot! haha. and myungwoo's death, i mean the real death was just sudden. i wish he could've been given a little more exposure para mas malupit ang effect! haha. the transition of events was not executed very well. but hey, i'm not here to write a movie review am i? i just loooooooved windstruck. period.
oh by the way... it's october 31st today...
"the day that you leave forever..." ='(
"come back to me as the wind! come back as the wind..."
[ now playing: windstruck - for the second time around... *sniff*sniff* who's the fan now? :) ]
ge's blog was such a spoiler pala! hmpf. but sabi nga nya, iba pa rin when you actualy get to see it (true.true). it was a movie marathon, so the night did not end windstrucked. c'mon. korean-drama 'til the break of dawn! innocent steps and the classic. and hell yah, i'm so damn hooked on "cngkit films" na i finished 8 out of the 12 movies in she's 12-in-1 dvd! plus 1 - the classic. cngkit paggising, cngkit hanggang pagtulog! the three other films are mejo bastusan, eh i'm with my sister, minor, bawal, sayang. joke. hehe. i don't really enjoy nonsense, good-for-nothing sexually driven movies anyway. and the other one naman has this unforgivable-wrong-grammared-subtitle which i couldn't tolerate! so... here. this is how i spent the first half of my sembreak. i laugh and cry everyday and every night! muka na kong baliw that every night my kuya would come home, inaabutan nya ko doing the same thing. thanks to his dvd player by the way, that i thought i broke. goodness gracious, hindi pala! ;D
a little rundown of the 9 films:
an overnight total transformation of asian-drama-perception.
i'm now so hooked i couldn't stop. never a fan pala ha?!
now, i'm a self-confessed-certified-korean-drama-addict!
and proud of it. ;D

- sassy girl chun yang (it's cute, from GMA)
- my girL (julian's smokin' hot! and jasmin's just a psycho, i love her)
- memories of bali? (tragic ending but great acting for paolo?)
- i don't remember anything anymore. haha.

a little rundown of the 9 films:
- windstruck - but of course! oh, i must say pala, kyungjin's acting is just superb. go sassy girl! (peram sassy she, haha. yah, i haven't seen this, sorry naman)
- innocent steps - a charming romantic comedy. op kors, i shed a tear or two pa din. cry baby cry. damn the dancing skills! flawless. anung cnabi ni patrick swayze and jennifer grey! too bad walang dancing scene sila together, i mean a performing dancing scene. well, except for the credits part of the movie. it's just sayang. like they practiced real hard tas walang ganun? hmm..sad. i love the fireflies anyway. ;D
- the classic - one hell of a tearduct stimulator pa rin. love the twists and turns of the plot. it takes you into two different worlds that are intermingled after all. like all the rest of the previous romantic movies, this one will make you believe in destiny, in fate, in soulmates, whatever you wanna call it.
- a millionaire's first love - i watched this thrice! my super favorite of them all. kung mega iyak ako sa windstruck, super mega duper iyak ako dito. huhuhu. like i was tulala for about 15 minutes after the movie. shocks... naiiyak ulit ako. huhu. it's mala- a walk to remember, but it sure has the magic of its own. talk about flittering butterflies in your stomach, this has it! na-in love ako ng super kay... sa kanya. (i'm not good at remembering korean names pa eh..;p) i think i'm gonna blog about this on my next post, maxado kong apektado. haha.
- my little bride - a cute little chick flick. love the baseball guy. haha.
- 100 days with Mr. Arrogant - wooohoo. the male bida reminds me of... o****e. as in.
- he was cool - the right blend of comedy and drama. mega kilig to pramiz. i cried sa sobrang tawa and laughed sa sobrang iyak. o diba.
- too beautiful to lie - i love pepper boy!!! hahaha.
- she's on duty - xet, ang gwapo ng leading man! c'mon! konti nga lang eksena nya, naka-helmet pa! haha. "i love you all"
- they're naturalistic - recall the river from the classic, the super kulit na wind from windstruck, the first day of snowfall from a millionaire's first love and he was cool, the fireflies from innocent steps, the rain from almost all of them, you name it. haha. there's always an element of nature in them, that makes you believe in paulo coehlo's "the universe conspires to make you happy." lalo tuloy ako na-inlove sa ulan at na-frustrate sa snow! lord, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! :D
- they're not sexual, not even sensual! - this what makes them sooo special. the characters don't have to be on the very typical-hollywood bed scene where, you know (you need the details?) to cause an electricity effect to crawl in your skin that signals kilig! a simple stare creates this incredible rush and a 3-second kiss would be a big big bonus! the kilig factor is soooo there without the flesh-show-off.
- they're fatalistic - call it destiny. call it fate. soul mates perhaps? or the one? o'ryt you get the idea, they have it. take this: a contemporary setting where high school boy meets high school girl in a very odd way, exchange messages, went out, fell in love, argued, third party enters the picture, reconciles, and boom! a flash back of a scene from both their childhoods that reveals that they knew each other all along, and yah, that they're made for each other after all. c'mon. very idealistic huh? but super kilig nevertheless! haha. it makes me think tuloy of the kids i grew up with... could it be, that one of them is my destiny? haha. ;D
- i could just go on and on - but what's the point? i'm enjoying them anyway? haha.
an overnight total transformation of asian-drama-perception.
i'm now so hooked i couldn't stop. never a fan pala ha?!
now, i'm a self-confessed-certified-korean-drama-addict!
and proud of it. ;D
